The BachApp is a practical and informative app for everyone who likes to be around the Rhine, Wiese and Birs.It contains: - Water body information: Current measurement data (water temperature, water level and discharge history (including forecasts) for the Rhine, Wiese and Birs - Map: The map is filterable and contains practical information on places around the rivers, such as recommended swimming areas, toilets, food & drink, barbecue areas and more.
- Information: In addition to interesting facts about the Rhine, you can find out here which events are planned around the Rhine and where there are construction sites.
- On the river: This section answers frequently asked questions, presents various water sports and provides information on considerate coexistence (#RHYLAX) and nature conservation.The majority of the measured values ​​and information available in the app flow into the BachApp via the cantonal data portal (https://data.bs.ch).
This ensures that the information is always up to date.
In this way, the data is also available to the public on the Internet as open authority data (OGD) at https://data.bs.ch/explore/?q=tags=BachApp.The project stems from a smart city initiative of cantonal and urban development, which worked together with the developers Tizian Hösch and Andreas Stebler, the sports department, the civil engineering department and the specialist department for open government data.
